Terms of use

Last updated 5 October 2026

Sun alarm is a free Android app made by one person. These terms set out how you may use it and what it can and cannot promise. By installing or using the app, you accept them.

The app

Sun alarm is free, works on Android 8 and newer, and is published by the individual described in the legal notice. It is currently in beta: features may change, and you may find bugs. Reporting them helps.

Using the app

You may install and use the app for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not sell it, rent it, or pass it off as your own, nor copy, modify or reverse engineer it except where the law expressly allows you to.

An alarm not to rely on alone

The app does its best to wake you on time, but a phone can keep an alarm from ringing: the phone being off or out of battery, battery saving or "optimisation" settings, Do Not Disturb, a muted alarm volume, a permission switched off, or a system update. The app warns you about the problems it can detect, such as a missing permission or an alarm volume at zero.

For anything important, like a flight, an exam or a work shift, set a second alarm as well. The publisher cannot be held responsible for a missed wake-up or its consequences.

The weather

Forecasts come from Open-Meteo and are only forecasts: they can be wrong or out of date, especially offline, when the app shows the last forecast it saved.

The morning news

The morning news is made automatically and is not checked by a person. An AI model summarises headlines and teasers that news outlets publish in their RSS feeds, and an AI voice reads the result. It can contain mistakes, leave things out, or be out of date. The app names the sources of every story: check them before relying on what you hear. The opinions in the news are those of the outlets.

Your content

Your notes and settings stay on your phone, and you are responsible for what you write in them.

Availability and changes

The weather and the morning news depend on online services that can be interrupted. The publisher may change the app, stop a feature, or stop the app altogether, and will try to say so in the release notes beforehand.

Liability

The app is provided as it is, free of charge, without any guarantee that it will meet your needs or work without interruption or error. To the extent the law allows, the publisher is not liable for any damage resulting from its use or from being unable to use it. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that French law does not allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer.

Intellectual property

The app and its content belong to the publisher, except for the components listed on the Credits page, which are used under their own licenses.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated, with a new date at the top of this page. If you keep using the app after a change, the new terms apply.

Applicable law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If there is a problem, please write first to tato.devteam@gmail.com so we can try to settle it amicably. Failing that, the French courts have jurisdiction, subject to the rules protecting consumers in the country where they live.
